Lemon Ricotta Cream Mousse Recipe
What I love about this dessert is just how light and fluffy you can make a mixture of ricotta and heavy cream. It really is something to behold in the mixing bowl!
Then, once you lace those mild, creamy flavors with a little sharpness of lemon, sweetness of honey, and freshness of mint, you have a treat that looks really simple, but delivers some wonderful flavor.
I often find I have leftover ricotta in the refrigerator, so if I know I’m hosting and I want to offer everyone a little dessert, this is a worthy way to use it. I usually serve it with a side of fruit, but there are plenty of other suggestions to give you ideas after the recipe.

To make my simple ricotta lemon cream mousse recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Ricotta – 1 cup
- Heavy Cream – 1 cup
- Lemon Juice – 2 tbsp
- Vanilla – 1 tsp
- Honey – 2 tbsp
- Lemon Zest (optional) – zest from 1/2 lemon, for decoration
- Fresh Mint (optional) – 1 sprig of fresh mint, for decoration
Step 1 – Beat the heavy cream in large bowl with a hand mixer for a couple minutes until you get soft peaks (don’t overmix).
Step 2 – In a separate bowl, beat the ricotta, lemon juice, honey, and vanilla with the hand mixer until smooth.
Step 3 – Combine the whipped cream and ricotta mixture and beat for just a few seconds to incorporate.
Step 4 – Transfer to a small serving bowl. You can optionally decorate it with mint and lemon zest.
Fruit Salad – A fresh and colorful fruit salad like the one I’ve prepared works so well with this mousse. You can let guests serve themselves, or prepare individual glasses of fruit and mousse layers, topped with fresh herbs.
Lemon Shavings and Mint– Not only does it make the dessert look more decadent, the extra zest will be very much appreciated by anyone who loves lemon-ey desserts.
Honey and Hazelnuts – You could serve a few scoops of mousse in a glass or bowl, then top it with chopped hazelnuts and a drizzle of honey.
Sweet and/or Savory Biscuits or Crackers – These will give you some crunch to balance the fluffy, creamy texture, and your guests can easily help themselves if you simply put a plate of biscuits or crackers next to the mousse.
Berries – A side of raspberries, blackberries, or other berries can be a super simple and delicious combination
Orange or Carrot Cake – As you would ice cream with pie, a good dollop of mousse with some moist orange or carrot cake can allow the lemon to compliment the flavors.
