Succulent Lamb Burger Recipe (with Tangy Feta Yogurt Dressing)
Burger night is about to get a whole lot juicier with my delicious lamb burger recipe, topping the juicy lamb and herb patty with a thick, tangy feta-yogurt sauce and nestling it between two halves of a toasted brioche bun.
Lamb Burger Recipe
We all know lamb and mint are a perfect marriage, so I’ve added lots of mint, herbs, and other flavors into the patty for a mouthful that unleashes freshness, juices, and succulence.
Sandwiched between a tangy dressing, crunchy toppings, and a sweet toasted bun, this is a burger of truly mouthwatering proportions!
Ingredients
To make my juicy lamb burger and dressing recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:
For the Burgers (2 burgers):
- Burger Buns – 2 brioche burger buns
- Lamb – 1/2 lb ground lamb/lamb mince (225 grams)
- Fresh Herbs – 2 tbsp chopped mint and 1 tbsp chopped cilantro (coriander)
- Mustard – 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- Garlic – 1 garlic clove
- Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Lemon Zest – 1 tsp lemon zest
- Salt – 1/2 tsp salt
- Pepper – 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Oil – 1 tbsp neutral oil (vegetable, sunflower, or canola), for frying
For the Sauce:
- Feta – 2 oz (60 grams) feta
- Yogurt – 3 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
- Garlic – 1 small garlic clove
- Lemon Juice – 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- Cilantro – 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
- Mint – 1 tsp chopped mint
- Salt – pinch of salt
- Black Pepper – pinch of black pepper
For Toppings:
- Tomato – 2 thick slices of tomato
- Cucumber – 1/4 English cucumber
- Red Onion – red onion slices to taste
Ingredient Notes
Fresh Herbs – Other herbs you could use include mint+parsley, mint+thyme, or parsley+dill, among many others.
Mustard – You could also use yellow mustard or mustard powder (half a teaspoon).
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 – Mix the feta, yogurt, and lemon juice with a fork, crushing the feta.
Step 2 – Add 1 tbsp of chopped cilantro(coriander), 1 tsp of chopped mint, and minced garlic (1 small clove).
Step 3 – To the ground lamb, add chopped mint, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, ground black pepper, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
Mix until everything is combined.
Step 4 – Shape 2 patties from the mixture.
Step 5 – To a pan, over medium-high heat, add 1 tbsp of oil. When the oil is hot, add the lamb patties and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until fully cooked (at a minimum, lamb patties should be cooked to 160°F (71.1° C)).
Step 6 – While the lamb patties are cooking, prepare your toppings: slice the tomatoes, peel and slice the red onion, and cut thin slices of cucumber (using a vegetable peeler or a pairing knife).
Step 7 – (optional) Toast the buns.
Step 8 – Assemble the burgers: toasted bun, feta-yogurt mixture, lamb patty, tomato, onion, and cucumber.
Serving Suggestions
This burger is indulgence in a bun, I can assure you! You can absolutely eat this on your own, but a side of crispy fries, chunky chips, or my rosemary salt potato wedges with ketchup, mustard, mayo, and other condiments rounds out the classic burger combo.
This is a rich and juicy burger, so for a lighter side, consider some greens or a salad. You could try my tomato, feta, and mint salad, for example, especially if you like the dressing.
Make it a cheeseburger by adding some cheddar, edam, or mozzarella slices to the top of the patties when they are cooking.
You could also go with some homemade guacamole or my lemon basil aioli for a dipping sauce.
This is a truly titanic addition to burger night, especially if you mix it up with some other options, like my crispy chicken breast burger and my breaded fish burger.
Let me know in the comments what you thought of this succulent delight and what hearty or delicious sides you paired it with.
